GenAI & Publishing Resources

Thad McIlroy, the founder of The Future of Publishing, has a document titled "AI Strategies for Book Publishing Companies" that he updates periodically. We were privileged to have Thad as one of our keynote speakers for our 2025 Conference.

Professor Ethan Mollick teaches at the Wharton School of Business. He is generally acknowledged to be one of the people at the forefront of researching generative AI and it's usefulness. He offers a blog/newsletter, One Useful Thing, that provides a research-based view on the implications of AI. Free resources and prompts are compiled at More Useful Things. You might also be interested in his NY Times bestselling book, Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI.

None of these resources from Ethan Mollick are publishing-specific, but they are still helpful for learning about generativeAI.

In July 2025, PCPA Executive Director Beth Lewis asked Perplexity.ai to provide a spreadsheet of the best genAI tools and platforms for publishers organized by function. These have not been vetted, but this Excel spreadsheet, AI tools for publishers by function_Perplexity.ai for PCPA is here for your use to try.
